Jeju, South Korea – The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Gwangsoo) announced today a unique initiative designed to address the common question, "Why is studying so hard?" On July 17th, at 2 PM, the Seolmundae Women's Culture Center will host a special interactive lecture, "To You Who Find Studying Difficult Right Now…", for 400 middle school students and their guardians.
This event moves beyond traditional academic lectures, offering a "communication-centered special lecture" that combines shared stories and expert insights. The focus will be on mathematics and English, subjects where many students often face significant challenges. The program will incorporate pre-submitted concerns from students, creating a relatable and supportive environment.
Leading the lectures will be renowned learning experts: Director Jeong Jaehoon from the Gyeongnam Mathematics & Culture Center for mathematics, and EBS English instructor Jeong Seungik for English. They are set to provide practical study strategies and methods for motivation, aiming to equip students with valuable tools for their academic journey.
A key highlight of the event will be the personalized counseling sessions. Selected stories of academic struggles, submitted in advance, will be discussed, offering empathy, comfort, and tangible solutions tailored to individual needs. The initiative prioritizes helping students rediscover the meaning of learning and regain their confidence, rather than focusing solely on short-term grade improvements.
Students and their guardians interested in participating and submitting their study concerns can do so until July 1st through the online Eureka system at https://ksurv.kr/akM3OT02Nzc.
An official from the Provincial Office of Education expressed hope that "This time will be an opportunity for students who are exhausted and struggling with their studies to find comfort, hear truly helpful advice, and regain their courage once again."
This thoughtful program underscores the Jeju Education Office's commitment to supporting the well-being and academic growth of its students, ensuring they feel heard and empowered in their educational endeavors.
