Jeju Island is poised to transform into an "island of opera" this August with the return of the highly anticipated 10th Seogwipo Opera Festival. Marking its decennial anniversary, this year's festival promises an even richer and more diverse program, blending artistic excellence with popular appeal to engage both seasoned opera enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
A Festival of Grandeur and Accessibility
Since its inception in 2016, the Seogwipo Opera Festival has been a cornerstone of local culture and arts, passionately developed by Jeju-born artistic director Kim Su-jung in collaboration with the Seogwipo Arts Center. The festival aims not only to showcase world-class opera but also to provide a vibrant cultural exchange platform for local artists and to boost cultural tourism on the island.
