The Jeju Literary House is set to launch a unique "Writing Your Heart" workshop, focusing on the innovative literary genre of "Dica-Poem." Led by renowned author Jeong Hogyo, this program offers island residents and visitors a fresh avenue for creative expression.
Jeju Now, your authentic guide to life on Jeju Island, highlights this significant cultural offering as an opportunity to merge personal narrative with Jeju's inspiring natural beauty and tranquil essence.
What is a "Dica-Poem"?
For those unfamiliar, a "Dica-Poem" (디카시, or Dica詩) is a modern literary form that integrates a digitally captured photograph with a concise poetic text, typically limited to five lines. The photograph is not merely supplementary; it serves as an integral component, encapsulating a "poetic moment" that the accompanying words then expand upon. This genre leverages digital accessibility to foster immediate and shared poetic creation.
The workshop, a component of the 2025 Literary Artist Support Project, is structured to guide participants through the creation of their own distinctive Dica-Poems. It welcomes individuals across all levels of writing and photography experience, promising an engaging and enriching educational journey.
Workshop Schedule and Curriculum:
The program is slated to begin on Friday, June 13th, and will continue weekly through August 1st. Sessions will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A special publication ceremony is tentatively scheduled for September 19th, providing a potential showcase for participants' works.
