Jeju Boosts Local Dining with Public Delivery App Coupons

Jeju Special Self-Governing Province is actively working to invigorate its local restaurant industry through a significant coupon initiative for public delivery app users. This effort is part of a nationwide program aimed at supporting small business owners in the food service sector.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs launched a 65 billion KRW (approximately $47 million USD) support program on June 10, distributing 6.5 million '10,000 KRW consumer coupons' across public delivery apps nationwide. Consumers can earn a 10,000 KRW coupon for their next order after making three separate orders of 20,000 KRW or more through a public delivery app. These coupons are distributed on a first come, first served basis and are limited to one per person per public delivery app per month to encourage new user engagement.

In addition to the national program, Jeju Province is enhancing its own public delivery app, Mukkaebi. Through this app, users can receive a daily 3,000 KRW delivery fee coupon. Kim Mi young, Director General of Jeju Province's Economic Vitality Bureau, highlighted the potential impact, stating, "If just one million of the 650 billion KRW coupons are used in Jeju, it will have a more powerful economic revitalization effect for small businesses than attracting a 10 billion KRW national project." The province plans to secure additional funding to continue the 3,000 KRW daily coupon support until the end of the year.

These initiatives provide a practical way for residents and visitors to support local restaurants while enjoying savings. By utilizing public delivery apps, consumers can contribute directly to the economic vitality of Jeju's small business community.
